Led by founder Carissa Western, Roam takes people on exclusive excursions to the remotest places on the planet, including Tadrart Rouge in Algeria, Socotra, Angola, and Eritrea. Roam needed a comprehensive website that highlighted their unique travel destinations, immersive experiences, and founder Carissa Western’s vision for exploring the world’s greatest undiscovered secrets. 

Roam’s goal was to create a digital platform that would not only showcase their offerings but also serve as a powerful tool for driving business growth and establishing Roam’s presence in the travel industry.

Despite their strong brand identity and unique offerings, Roam faced the challenge of creating a compelling digital presence from scratch. Given Carissa’s frequent travels out of the UK to scout new locations in Africa and beyond, maintaining seamless communication between her and our team was crucial. These meetings allowed us to share our latest work, receive timely feedback and keep the momentum going as the project progressed.

Although the site design was complex since each destination was given its own unique feel, our developers went above and beyond to ensure that even on smaller screens, the visual sense of immersion in the different cultures and stunning landscapes was retained.

We crafted a fresh design styling that reflects the exotic locations Roam offers. Each destination page was given a unique visual identity to convey the distinct atmosphere and adventure it promises, incorporating bold imagery, vibrant colours and intuitive layouts.

Understanding the importance of accessibility, especially for a travel brand, we emphasised responsive, mobile-friendly layouts. Our design and development teams collaborated closely to ensure that the immersive experience of Roam’s destinations was seamless across all devices. Whether on a smartphone, tablet or desktop, users can easily explore and get inspired by Roam’s offerings no matter how they access the site.

Innovative management

Customised CMS

We implemented a customised Content Management System (CMS) within Webflow to support Carissa and her team in managing the website independently. This allows Roam to effortlessly update content, add new destinations, and keep their audience informed about the latest excursions and travel experiences without needing ongoing technical support.

With the increasing consumer interest in ethical tourism, Roam has captured the imagination of the 30-something traveller looking for a unique, rewarding travel experience. The new website effectively showcases Roam’s commitment to offering exclusive excursions to some of the remotest places on the planet, while maintaining a strong emphasis on sustainability and ethical travel practices.

The addition of Dahlak, a cluster of islands on the Red Sea coastline, as a fifth upcoming location highlights Roam’s continued expansion and dedication to providing unparalleled travel experiences. The website now serves as a powerful tool for communicating Roam’s brand values, unique destinations and the immersive adventures they offer.
