Digital Podge is known for its exclusive, invitation-only lunches that are a highlight for UK business leaders and influencers across the creative, digital, sport, and music industries. Events are held five times a year, and offer a unique networking opportunity in a relaxed and informal setting. Each year, a different agency is tasked with crafting a distinctive theme for each of the five lunches, resulting in five unique concepts that captivate and engage attendees.

For the 2023 Digital Podge event that marked the company’s 20th anniversary, Boost was tasked with bringing a fresh and imaginative theme to life. With the recent buzz around AI advancements, Boost aimed to creatively explore this trend while infusing a sense of nostalgia that would resonate with the diverse Podge audience.

​​Time travel theme: Back to the Future meets AI

We developed a theme centred around the popular 1985 sci-fi film, Back to the Future. This concept allowed for a playful exploration of technological evolution, contrasting the past with the future in a way that was both engaging and thought provoking. The theme was designed to appeal to the Podge audience’s appreciation for creativity, innovation - and nostalgia.

Event branding and visual design

We developed a visual identity that merged Back to the Future aesthetics with a modern twist. The design featured retro-futuristic typography, neon colours and digital motifs that created a nostalgic yet contemporary vibe. This style was applied consistently across all event materials, ensuring a cohesive experience. 

Experience design

We added engaging interactive features to immerse attendees in the event's theme and bring the Back to the Future theme to life. A key highlight was the Digital Podge newspaper, which included playful stories about possible future events to add a layer of fun and creativity to the experience.

To enhance the event's impact, we focused on making the Digital Podge website highly interactive and engaging. The development agency involved in the project incorporated dynamic interactions and animations that aligned with the Back to the Future theme, making the website itself an integral part of the event experience.
